The mountain pine beetle prefers mature timber. After 80 years, lodgepole pine trees are generally classed as being mature.


Mayor Kerry Cook
Position: Chair

Kerry grew up in North Vancouver moving to Williams Lake as a teenager in 1973.  She graduated from UBC in 1984 with a BA in International Relations. Kerry held a seat as Councillor from 1996 – 1999.  She has been a faculty member at Thompson River University for over 20 years and is the Applied Business Technology Coordinator.  She was Director of Sport for the 2002 BC Winter Games, a Kiwanis member and Past-President since 2004. 

 

Kerry has been married to her husband Dan for over 23 years.  They have three children Steffanie (Chris), Daniel and Meagan.  Dan and Kerry are recent grandparents to grandson Kailen. She is a proud and active hockey and soccer Mom.

 

Kerry currently holds the Crime-Safer Community Portfolio and she is determined and committed to making Williams Lake a safer community for all our citizens.

Guenter Weckerle
Position: Vice Chair

Guenter has worked in the forest industry in the interior of BC for 31 years since graduation from UBC.  He is a Registered Professional Forester, and has held the position of Woods Manager for West Fraser Mills Ltd. in Williams Lake, BC since September 1989.  Guenter has a keen interest in land use planning and resource allocation issues and believes these issues should be resolved by local stakeholders.  He has been involved in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Land Use Plan since its inception, participating in several provincial Timber Supply Reviews, and Sub-Regional Plans.  He is currently chair of both the Williams Lake TSA Association and the Cariboo Licensees Land Use Strategy Committee and co-chair for the provincial Interior Scaling Advisory Committee.  Guenter is a founding member of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition and a strong proponent of a viable and sustainable forest industry.

Chief Anne Louie
Position: Director

Chief Geronimo Squinas
Position: Director

Geronimo is Chief of the Red Bluff Indian Band. Geronimo is responsible for the Band's archaeological activities as well as working on economic initiatives.  He is a board member of the Community Futures North Cariboo and North Cariboo Aboriginal Family Program Society.

Mayor Mary Sjostrom
Position: Director

Mayor Mary Sjostrom is serving her first term as Mayor of Quesnel after having served three terms on City Council.  Mary is an enthusiastic community booster, a politician who revels in embracing challenges while remaining positive and upbeat throughout even the most difficult circumstances.  Her love for her community has ensured that she cares about her work, her colleagues and the people she represents.  She always listens to what the residents of Quesnel are saying, and does her utmost to ensure that everyone’s needs are considered throughout any decision-making process.

 

Mary sits as a director on the BC Transit Board and is Past President of the North Central Municipal Association.  She is a Director at Large on the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, where she is Chair of the Community Economic Development Committee, a Resolutions Committee Member and provides support on the President Committee.

Mayor Mitch Campsall
Position: Director

Mitch has been a resident and business owner in 100 Mile House for 24 years and has served on Council as a Councillor for 10 years.  Mitch spends as much time as possible with his family and is also involved and supports many aspects of our community.  He spent many years on the Board of the 100 Mile House Lions Club and has participated and supported many other charities and organizations in our community.

 

Mitch is a past member of the 100 Mile House Fire Department and past President of the South Cariboo Fire Fighters Association.  When on Council, Mitch held the position of Chair for the Public Works Committee for 10 years, was a member of the South Cariboo Recreation Commission for 6 years and Chair for Community Schools for 5 years.
